1) Why is it important for you to include exercise in your busy schedule?
I had a thyroid operation three months ago so I’ve taken things easier than usual. I do walk everywhere as we live in Windsor and I do weekly yoga and like to swim when I can too. Exercise is critical for my mental as well as my physical well being and I see it as part of my self-care routine, something I’ve prioritised this year. I think swimming is my favourite exercise. I always feel utterly relaxed and also inspired post-swim (as the repetitive nature of swimming allows me to free my mind).
2) What does your exercise routine involve?
Walking around 15k steps a day on average in Windsor (I’m a naturally fast walker too) and I’m looking forward to doing more running as I start to feel stronger post op.  I’m plant-based and do intermittent fasting daily so fast from 9pm the night before to 11am the next day) and have found it beneficial in every way.
3) Do you think that exercise has played a role in your success?
I think it’s allowed me to release stress in a productive way. If I’m attacked online for example, whilst rare, it does happen, my first response would be deep breaths. I regularly practise yoga from my desk if need be, and there’s no time or space for a full session and it’s changed my life. Managing stress through exercise is a gift. I’m a big believer of talking about worries and crying too. Bottled up emotion contributed to my traumatic birth in 2010.
4) When and where do you like to work out (morning/night – home/gym/outdoors)
I go for long walks straight after the morning school-run if I’m not on deadline. Living close to the Long Walk in Windsor means immersing myself in achingly beautiful countryside in all seasons, before my day starts. My kids and I spend a lot of time outdoors too. We love a NT park and you’ll always find us at one of the many parks and playgrounds in Windsor. We adore living here.
5) Has exercise/fitness always been a part of your life?
Yes, memories of me working out to Cindy Crawford’s fitness VHS tape (!) as a tween/teen spring to mind and I would take join the weekly exercise class my Mum took during those years too. I grew up in Ilkley as a child and had a Enid Blyton style childhood climbing trees and running around the moors! Exercise has always been a natural part of my life.
6) Who is your role model?
 Oprah. She is a pioneering, bold, nurturing creative genius. It was a dream come true to attend a Q & A with her earlier in the year where she candidly spoke of her career and life.
7) What is your favourite fitness quote ?
I don’t know who said it first but, ‘Do something today your future self will thank you for’.
