Puja is a certified NLP Life & Business Coach working with you to change the way you think so that you are able to improve your life in all areas through finding the essence of your excellence.
1) Why is it important for you to include exercise in your busy schedule?
A few years ago I had depression and one of the main tools I used to help get me back to centre was exercise. Since then, it’s been imperative for me to include it in my busy schedule for the good of my health. I have a tendency to gain weight easily which is always attributed to stress that I’m not managing well, so in order to be well in both body and mind, I need to stay active.
2) What does your exercise routine involve?
I lost a lot of weight (6 stones) in 2008 on a VLCD programme and as a result I picked up running and absolutely loved it! I don’t enjoy it as much when I gain weight but I love to cycle and swim. I’ve walked everyday for 10 years as I had a dog and now I walk with my son everyday.
3) Do you think that exercise has played a role in your success?
Yes, without question. I need to exercise to manage my stress levels. When I don’t exercise, I easily gain weight and can fall into a dangerous spiral of self-destruction which then affects all areas of my life. I have learned that when I am looking after myself by exercising, I achieve all my goals with a lot more ease and enjoyment.
4) When and where do you like to work out (morning/night – home/gym/outdoors)
I prefer to workout in the mornings and outdoors. I recently bought an exercise bike for the house because since having a baby, it’s not always easy to do what you want to do when you want to do it! Also with the weather here, it helps to have an alternative that I actually enjoy.
5) Has exercise/fitness always been a part of your life?
When I look back, as a child, yes, it was always a part of my life. I did ballet, swimming, netball, tennis and hockey until I was 16. After that, pretty much nothing until I was 27 and I lost weight for the first time in my life.
6) Who is your role model?
I don’t have one role model as such. From a Coaching perspective, Tony Robbins. His energy is infectious. In terms of body ethic, probably Jennifer Lopez – the woman is fierce!
7) What is your favourite fitness quote?
What Kate Moss said “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” – I’ve felt it and I love it!
