Mum-of-one Gemma has practised yoga for seven years and has 14 years’ experience teaching holistic and wellbeing therapies.

She launched the business last year from the family home in Cheshire. But due to its success, she decided to make the move and convert new premises into a bespoke yoga studio.

She runs session to suit all levels of ability from complete beginners upwards.

 

1) Why is it important for you to include exercise in your busy schedule?

Exercise is very important to me for many reasons, exercise makes me feel alive! Whether that’s rolling out my yoga mat or going for a walk/run, it will guarantee to provide me with feelings of being alive and energised. Our bodies are designed to move so taking the time to exercise I feel as though I am giving my whole body a cuddle in self love and care.

2) What does your exercise routine involve?

My exercise mainly involves yoga and walking. I am a yoga teacher so many of my days are spent on a yoga mat so when I come away from the studio I like to walk outdoors or maybe from time to time go for a little jog. Walking and jogging in this beautiful spring weather not only exercises my physical body but is soothing for my mind too as I become present with all the beautiful surroundings.

3) Do you think that exercise has played a role in your success?

Yes, I do feel as though exercise has played a huge role in my success. After I exercise, I think clearer. I feel my choices for the day are aligned. I’m focussed. I’m ready to take the day head on moving me along my career path with less fog hanging over me.

4) When and where do you like to work out (morning/night – home/gym/outdoors)?

My favourite place to exercise is outside. My favourite time to exercise is morning, but early morning. 6am! Unfortunately, It isn’t always possible to leave the house at that time each morning as I have a family and work commitments so I will always fit in some exercise where I can which may mean doing something from home or at our local fitness centre.

5) Has exercise/fitness always been a part of your life?

Absolutely! Fitness, exercise and well-being has always been a part of me. I’m lucky and grateful that I’ve never found it difficult to build a healthy relationship with fitness and well-being. In high school I loved P.E and I was always involved in the fitness activities outside of school, so I guess I have always carried this through with me. My fitness activities have defiantly changed over the years mind, I have done everything from running marathons, taking part in CrossFit, Swimming and yoga. Although my fitness activities these days are more of walking and yoga and I am super happy with that.

6) Who is your role model?

I try not to look up to ‘role models’ as such and focus more on being a better version of myself instead, however Jada Pinkett-Smith and stories of strength, wisdom, spirituality and success inspires me each day. She has this independent woman GLOW that radiates out to me.

7) What is your favourite fitness quote?

I have two favourite quotes.

It’s never too late to become a better version of yourself.
