1) Why is it important for you to include exercise in your busy schedule?
For me, there are many reasons to including exercise to my busy schedule. I have autoimmune condition which is manageable through diet and exercise. Ergo, keeping fit helps me to be healthy. Also, I workout in the morning, I use it for a form of meditation that gives me more clarity in my day. Finally, because I’ve done it in the morning, I already feel productive and winning the day. With that mentally, you are more like to win the rest of the day too and be more productive.
2) What does your exercise routine involve?
I am a CrossFitter so, it varies on the training cycle (I also compete in CrossFit). On average, I train Monday to Sat for up to 2 hours a day, with Thursday being “active recovery”. Cardio is usually first thing in the morning, which involves rowing, running, cycling and the ski erg. The strength and gymnastics involve the barbell, dumbells, pull ups, handstand walks, double unders and body weight exercises.
3) Do you think that exercise has played a role in your success
Yes, definitely. I was an elite athele and it has given me a better frame in life, that when things haven’t quite gone to plan, to always keep going. On a day to day level, because I am fitter and healthier, my productivity is better and more importantly, happier.
4) When and where do you like to work out? (morning/night – home/gym/outdoors)
In the morning in the box 🙂
5) Has exercise/fitness always been a part of your life?
Yes, I did swimming, athletics, gymnastic and modern penthalon to a high level and loved it. Moving to CrossFit was a very natural progression because it’s so competitive.
6) Who is your role model?
My fellow CrossFitters and probably Camille Leblanc Bazinet.
The guys in the gym always push me because compared to them, I feel lazy and feel the need to work harder to be where they’re at. Obviously, because they are always working hard, it’s like cat and mouse, trying to catch up.
I also say, Camille Leblanc Bazinet because of the social media messages she projects. She’s so inspiring to women.
7) What is your favourite fitness quote?
There’s no such thing as failure. There’s only something to learn from.
